Dr Maria Isabel Castillo

Research Fellow with the Alliance for Vascular Access Teaching and Research Group (AVATAR) at Menzies Health Institute Queensland, Griffith University in Australia

She qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2000 and specialised in intensive care, emergency and pre-hospital care, before moving into research in 2011 and completing her PhD on psychological recovery of survivors of critical illness at Griffith University.

Her research interests and publications are currently focused on care and management of vascular access devices as well as psychological recovery after critical illness. Dr Castillo is also a reviewer for several professional journals and has experience mentoring clinicians, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
